Factions Reloaded - Legion adds Legion quests, camps, bases, events, and changes to the southeast portion of the Mojave. It's made to make you feel like the Legion is actually a major presence in the game while remaining fully lore-friendly.

The Legion was seriously under-developed by the developers, and I felt that there needed to be some changes. This mod aims to show that the Legion is pushing forward in the southeast portion of the map without going overboard.

Feel free to check out other Factions Reloaded mods which fleshes out more factions and add additional content!

NEW LOCATIONS / MAJOR UPDATED AREAS:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Legion Forward Camp Aqua:
A medium sized camp of around 15 legionaries that is near the bottom of the map. Close to Cottonwood Overlook. Speak to Marcus Tiberius to start some new quests.

Legion Forward Camp Beta:
A medium sized camp of around 20 legionaries north east of the Legion Raid Camp near Ranger Station Charlie. Legionaries nearby are planning an ambush by the signs. There is a quest here as well, which can be started by entering the main tent and speaking to the Centurion in charge.

Legion Forward Camp Gamma:
A small camp of around 10 legionaries that is in front of the Legion Safehouse. It may be under attack by ferals.

Cottonwood Cove:
Adds a named legionary in Cottonwood Cove (look for his mohawk and praetorian armor - he is usually on the docks) named Quintus Fulvius who has two quests for the courier.

Wolfhorn Ranch:
Legion have established a camp in Wolfhorn Ranch. ~8-10 legionaries with multiple raiding parties nearby.

NCR Radio Outpost:
A small sized NCR camp of around 12 troopers that's under attack by the Legion. Located near Cliffside Prospector Camp.

Legion Deserter Camp:
A Legion Deserter Camp with a new boss near Nipton. Quest can be started from Legion Forward Camp Aqua.

Deathclaw Riverside Nest / Deathclaw Promontory:
Quest started at Cottonwood Cove. Added a couple of Legion squads to Deathclaw Promontory where they will be trying to kill the deathclaws there, but they can't do it without your help.

Billy's Camp:
Quest started at Cottonwood Cove. New raider camp at the edge of the map near Searchlight Airport.

NCR Checkpoint near Wolfhorn Ranch (Unmarked):
Small NCR checkpoint under attack by Legion on the road between Nipton and Wolfhorn Ranch. Will be wiped out if the player does not help.

Legion Barge:
I want to flesh this area out more in the future, but it currently has 2-3 legionaries and a couple of tents. Provides a checkpoint to the courier when fast traveling or swimming across the Colorado River. Good spot to save before attacking the Deathclaw Riverside Nest.

Mercenary Outpost (Unmarked):
Quest started from Legion Forward Camp Aqua. Located near Searchlight.

ADDITIONAL CHANGES / EVENTS:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • Added legionaries and NCR troopers + rangers to No Man's Land for a small but needed battle.
  • Adds a few more NCR troopers to Camp Searchlight and a small skirmish against Legion Deserters.
  • Adds Legion Merchants to most major Legion camps.
  • Adds some Legion patrols in the south part of the map.
  • Adds 2-3 Legion Deserters in front of Novac and a couple of Novac Mercenaries that will try to kill them.
  • Nelson now has a few more legionaries, as it felt like a ghost town and was nowhere near as strong as Camp Forlorn Hope.
  • Adds two tents and a couple of legionaries to the (unmarked) small legion camp close to Ranger Station Charlie.
  • Small unmarked Legion sniper camp near Camp Searchlight, as well as a small Legion forward raiding camp in front of Camp Gamma.
  • There is a group of Legion Deserters being hunted down by a Legion Sniper near Nipton.
  • Ranger Station Echo will now be under attack from 3 or 4 legionaries which is not a serious threat to them, but is just enough to show that the NCR is being pushed in that area.
  • It seems that some NCR troopers have set up a few blockades for legionaries near the Legion Raid Camp / Legion Camp Beta.
  • Small NCR patrol from the direction of the Mojave Outpost walking towards Nipton. Who knows what they are about to walk into?
  • And much more!
NEW UNITS:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Legion Sniper:
Usually sticks to the back of the battle and provides support, or is placed in positions that require shock troopers. You may see them in guard towers.

Praetorian Initiate (Rare):
Not as strong as Caesar's Praetorian Guards, Praetorian Initiates are experienced legionaries that are in training to become full-fledged Praetorians. Usually found protecting high ranking Centurions.

Legion Advanced Scout (Extremely Rare):
Tends to wander around outside of the camps, and usually is by themselves.

Legion Merchant:
Sells minor weapons, food, goods and misc items. Can be found at various Legion camps.

Legion Heavy (Extremely Rare):
Very rare to see on the battlefield, the Legion Heavy trooper is a match for even NCR Heavy troopers and NCR veteran rangers. They are very strong and it makes some legion base takeovers much more difficult.

Legion Scrapper:
Prime legionaries that have killed their fair share of raiders and NCR troopers, and love to show it off (often wearing pieces of their gear or using their weapons).

Legion Scorpio:
Essentially Prime/Recruit legionaries that have been given submachine guns.

Legion Deserter:
Legion Deserters are not associated with the Legion and are part of their own faction, and may be seen being tracked down by Legionaries or attacking Legion/NCR camps and small towns.

CHANGELOG:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
v1.0
  • First version, includes 3 Legion camps, lots of events, adds hundreds of NPCs, new types of legionaries, and lots of other things listed below.

v1.1
  • Fixed Legion Deserter faction, added a small camp to the Cottonwood Overlook. Also changes names of camps to more Roman-type names along with some bug fixes. Small but necessary update.

v1.2
  • Small fix, just changes the armor on about half of the scrappers and all of the snipers so they aren't wearing Vexillarius armor and the sniper doesn't have the helmet, which is now replaced with sunglasses.

v1.3

  • Added NCR and Legion forces to No Man's Land between Nelson and Camp Forlorn Hope.
  • Added a Legion Deserter Camp.
  • Added 3 encounters around the wastes, mostly with deserters
  • Added a couple of legion squads at Xander Bay (the unmarked deathclaw area on the eastern side of the map. They'll get wiped out really fast, but may take a couple deathclaws with them)
  • Added an NCR radio outpost near the Cliffside Prospector Camp that is being completely overrun, that the player can choose to help either side with. There will be lots of NPCs for both sides.
  • Slightly nerfed the Legion Sniper

v1.4
  • Adds Marcus Tiberius, a Legion Centurion to Camp Gamma. He has a couple of bounty hunting quests that are pretty challenging, so I would only recommend them to high level players. Also fixes the radio tower at the NCR camp.
v1.5
  • Fixed quests and adds a new one.
  • Also adds a named legion general to Camp Beta.

v1.6
  • Adds two new quests and a named NPC at the Cottonwood Cove docks
  • Adds legion spearmen but I haven't implemented them everywhere yet
  • Adds a small legion barge in the middle of the Colorado River.

v1.7
  • Legion Camp Beta revamped with help from Talonmaster812

v1.8
  • Additional minor bugfixes and requests from users. Nothing major but improvements made.

v1.9
  • Fixes Big Iron Quest (Finally)

v2.0
  • Fixed legion merchant, now will sell player items.
  • Fixed legion sniper dialogue.
  • Redid the wall around Camp Aqua. It now is open near the back where it leads towards the cliff, so anti-legion players have a second entrance to the camp.
  • All items and footlockers now owned by legion in Camp Aqua - big oversight on my part.
  • Fixed floating tents and campfires at Cottonwood overlook & Camp Aqua.
  • Added map marker to deathclaw riverside nest and added a couple of legion barges to explain how the legionaries crossed the river.
  • Floating tent outside camp searchlight removed, replaced with sleeping bags and tiny encampment for the legion sniper.
  • Floating head pikes out front, benches being too low, merchant stand floating all fixed.
  • Two camp gammas fixed, now they are named Aqua Beta and Gamma.
  • Infamous floating sandbag by wolfhorn farmstead fixed, also set legion farther away from NCR troops so the player gets to participate/see more of the battle.
  • Fixed floating sandbags between nelson and camp forlorn hope, skirmish for no mans land should run slightly smoother. NCR should win if the player does not help.
  • Expanded Quintus Fulvius's dialogue and added depth to his character.
  • Expanded Marcus Tiberius's dialogue and added depth to his character. Changed his armor to be more lore friendly.
  • Floating stuff by crashed vertiberd fixed at Billy's Gang camp.
  • Billy's gang now hostile on sight, added slightly more decoration and loot

v2.01
  • Fixes "Ten Feet Tall and Scary as Hell" quest to now end correctly when turned into Quintus.

v2.21
  • Fixed Legion Deserter faction - Now will properly attack both Legion and player, and killing Deserters will not affect Player's reputation with the Legion or make legionaries hostile.
  • Balanced mercenaries from Sniper No Sniping quest.
  • Balanced desert rangers from Big Iron quest and added a few dead prime legionaries in their cave with some healing items around them.
  • Removed expensive guns next to legion merchant that could be stolen with little to no recourse.
  • Expanded Legion Merchant inventory slightly.
  • Replaces Legion Blacksmith with new NPC - Legion outside the fort shouldn't have Fort faction anymore and this should resolve the issue with killing Legionaries early in the game and not being forgiven by Caesar later on. Please let me know if anyone finds further instances of this bug.
  • Fixed a ton of inventories where items and armor were set to 100% condition on accident.
  • Reworked Aulius Gabinius dialogue and gave him a centurion helmet. He has new lines and his quest dialogue is far less barebones now.
  • And more!

v2.3
  • Added legion reputation to mini-map for Legion Barge, Legion Safehouse, Cottonwood Cove Overlook, Camp Aqua, Beta, and Gamma.
  • Adds legion ear quest script to new units.
  • Fixes bug where prime legionaries in legate's camp can sometimes have the wrong name.
  • Adds diversity of troops to the fort, expands leveled list of units there.
  • Replaces excessive use of new units in The Fort and certain leveled lists across the wasteland - they aren't supposed to be quite as common as they were.
  • Legion Merchant no longer will attack NCR hostages at Nelson, potentially breaking any quests.
  • Fixed Legion Heavy sometimes having 100% condition armor
  • Junkies have lower % condition armor to be lore friendly
  • Improved Quintus Fulvius' quest dialogue

V2.4
  • Marcus Tiberius + all his quests are now fully voiced  - Thanks to EndchapterVA for voicing!
  • Legion fame and xp has been adjusted to be more lore friendly for all quests. Quests should now give legion coins as well
  • If Marcus Tiberius, Quintus Fulvius, or Aulius Gabinius are killed, their respective quests now automatically fail
  • Improved bounty quests (Deserters Must Die, Chems are Bad, Sniper no Sniping, Big Iron) to now trigger correctly when leaders are killed, not when the player leaves/enters certain areas (I was bad at scripting as a teenager and I'm still bad, but I at least found some good tutorials online)
  • Decorated Legion Deserter Camp, added note with a bit of context and background to their leader
  • Decorated Legion camp Gamma + Legion Safehouse a bit more and moved ferals farther away so the player has more time to reach the camp before they are attacked
  • Decorated Billy's raider camp
  • Decorated desert rangers cave / hideout - lots more loot now and increased variety of desert rangers (along with a slight health nerf), also added a note on the desert ranger leader
  • Decorated Mercenary sniper camp and added loot
  • Adjusted wolfhorn ranch legionaries to be more lore friendly
  • Shrunk NCR/Legion encounter by nipton and adjusted its position to be more lore friendly and fit the level of the area more
  • Expanded Legion Merchant's inventory slightly - should sell better stuff now, but I plan to return to this and improve his inventory further
  • Moved Praetorian initiate a bit at Camp Aqua to be less awkward. Gave them improved pathing as well
  • And much more!

v2.5
  • Completely redid the NCR Radio Outpost by the Cliffside Prospector Camp. Looks much better and the camp is larger. During testing, NCR was able to hold the camp about 60% of the time. The player can definitely influence the course of the battle directly.
  • New Legion assault near Wolfhorn Ranch. Small NCR outpost that has been completely redone from the ground up with a unique note and some loot. Stuck between Nipton and the Legion Raid Camp (and now Legion-occupied Wolfhorn Ranch), they don't stand much of a chance against the incoming Legion ambush.
  • Generally improved most of the interactions in the southern part of the map. It felt as though NPCs had kind of just been placed around, so now they have small unmarked camps scattered around and huge improvements to decoration, pathing, and patrols. You will notice the difference in many enounters!
  • NCR + Legion skirmish on the road to Nipton has been completely redone. Now there is a tiny camp of Recruit Legionaries that have stayed behind to provide a Legion presence in Nipton, and a small group of NCR troopers are on patrol headed straight for them.
  • Added proper vendor chest to Legion Merchant, he sells better items and now can repair up to ~79% as well. Now wears one of three outfits and various hats so the vendors at different camps feel a bit different.
  • Decorated and added a lot of improvements to Wolfhorn Ranch. Legionaries can now be found guarding important spots and idling in more natural ways.
  • Removed random recruit legionary from black mountain - must have been an old bug from a long time ago. Thanks Freyr95 for the report!
  • Improvements to lore friendly Legion placement. Some areas had high level troops, or units that didn't fit in certain areas (like the fort).
  • Aulius Gabinius improvements to dialogue. Player now will have an opportunity to duel him without making his entire camp go hostile if you kill him fast enough (proving he is too weak to lead). Will be fully voiced in the next update, WIP!
  • Updated Legion deserters to properly be enemies with Novac. Updated encounter with Novac Mercs - now Novac Mercs are unique and there are no duplicate NPCs
  • Legion deserters can sometimes have various headwear to increase diversity in appearances and have updated weapon leveled lists. More lore friendly to their areas (lower level guns in Novac, around Nipton, etc).
  • Moved Legion assault with the sandbags between Camp Beta and Searchlight so the legionaries are coming from Legion Camp Beta.
  • Minor improvements to Legion Camp Beta and added dead NCR troopers in the truck.
  • Continued decorating Desert Ranger Camp in the sulfur cave. More loot, and generators with sound and light added to make it feel like people are living in there and explain how some of the enemies can't hear you killing their friends on the other side of the cave. Thanks justariot662 for the suggestion!
  • Mercenaries in Sniper no Sniping quest now have irradiated food and properly have ghoul voices
  • Improvements to placement in Legion Camp Aqua. Brahmin pen added, more activities for NPCs to do, assigned guards, blacksmith work station, etc.
  • Removed a couple of NCR troopers from Camp Searchlight. I had added too many troopers and it looked like a major operation rather than a small outpost. Should be more lore friendly now.
v2.5.2 Hotfix / Small Patch
  • Changes Legion Sub Runner name to Legion Scorpio
  • Fixes Fiend bug. Thanks Freyr95 for catching it.
  • Improves wolfhorn ranch encounter. Lower level on both sides, and improved pathing for Legionaries.
  • Improves encounter between Searchlight and Legion Camp Beta.
