The NCR has sponsored the creation of several Speed-E Wheels stations to help citizens travel safely throughout the Mojave. Though they've fallen into disrepair, you'll be able to use them if you can locate and fix them.

If you've attempted a hardcore game you may have tried to enforce a "no fast-travel" personal
policy (with or without the use of fast-travel altering mods) to make the wasteland feel a bit less
forgiving. If you're like me, the thought of having to waltz halfway across the map to pick up
the one thing you forgot to grab makes the prospect of quickly zipping across the map in a
heartbeat with Fast Travel a difficult enticement to resist.

Speed-E Wheel Travel Systems attempts to bridge the gap between no fast travel and free-form fast travel with Speed-E Wheel Travel Stations.

Scattered around the wasteland are eleven Speed-E Wheel Travel Stations. When the player encounters one, it will have to repaired in order to be functional. Once repaired, the player can use it to safely and quickly travel to any other repaired Speed-E Wheel Station.

In addition, each station can be hacked to enable employee discounts, or to disable the jingle from the overly-enthusiastic pitchman that plays whenever the player (or an NPC) ventures too close to a Speed-E Wheels station.



Before you install the mod, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Err, I mean,
do you want to play your game with fast travel enabled, AND the Speed-E Wheels as an alternate
option?

If you want to have both, enable the Speed-E Wheels Travel Systems.esm and extract the contents of
the .zip file into your New Vegas Data folder.

If you would like to *disable* fast travel (RECOMMENDED), download and install this small mod IN
ADDITION to Speed-E Wheels Travel Systems.esm.

* Eleven Speed-E Wheel stations in the Mojave
* Each station must be repaired (using common materials) before it can be used. Once repaired, the player may travel to any other repaired Speed-E Wheel station.
* Each station can be hacked, to activate an employee discount, and/or disable the jingle.
* The player may periodically earn FREE RIDE TOKENS that can be used for an obvious purpose. It's
also possible the player may find them carried by others or sold in stores.



This mod should play nicely with just about any other mod out there, as it doesn't modify existing content except for a few (seldom used) leveled lists.



Q: Is this mod companion friendly?
A: Yes! Companions should follow the player and appear near you whenever you travel using a Speed-E Wheels station. I have not tested any non-vanilla companions, but I imagine they should work without incident.

Q: Why isn't fast travel disabled automatically with this mod? Why would I ever want to use fast travel AND this mod? Fast travel is free and more convenient!
A: That's entirely true. However, Speed-E Wheels stations have a few small benefits to consider:
a) Each station can be hacked, which provides XP. In addition, the player receives 25 xp for repairing a station.
b) The stations can be used even when in combat (who doesn't like a daring escape on a motorcycle?)
c) The stations can be used if the player is encumbered, unlike standard fast travel.
d) If you support the NCR, feel content knowing that your hard earned caps will go towards their admirable goal of revitalizing the transportation infrastructure of the Mojave.

Q: That voice! That pitchman is stirring feelings within me I thought long dormant and forgotten! Can I disable it before I succumb?
A: Uhh.. Do you mean 'can you disable the speaker voice'? Yes. If you hack the terminal at a station you can disable the "attract mode" at that station.

Q: Why did you choose to put a station at location xxxxx instead of location xxxxx? It would have been so much better at xxxxxx!
A: I tried to strike a balance between convenience for the player and locations that would make sense, given the history of Speed-E Wheels (which you can read on the terminals at each station). If there's a point where you really want to travel to not close to a Speed-E Wheels station, you can purchase a VIP beacon that will let you set a one-way (drop-off) travel point.

Q: Are there plans to add other locations?
A: Not at this time. It ended up taking a lot more terminal making/scripting than I anticipated, and adding more than one terminal screen of possible locations would take a lot of additional work.

Q: Can I get a list of the locations of the stations?
A: Sure! Just scroll to the bottom of the readme file and you'll find a comprehensive list of the locations.
