Portable Folding Lawn Chairs
Version 2.5
by Keleigh3000

DESCRIPTION
-----------

Makes most vanilla lawn chairs capable of being folded up, added to your inventory, placed elsewhere, and sat upon. You should also occasionally find them for sale at various merchants.

When you find a lawn chair in the wilderness you can sit on it in the regular fashion by activating ('use' key, default E) while standing. If you do the same while crouched, the chair will fold up into a portable model. Click it again while crouched and you'll add it to your inventory.

When you want to use it again, just right click it in your inventory to drop it. Now, you can use your grab key (default Z) to move it around and satisfy your own particular feng shui (the chair will face the same direction when deployed as it's pointing when folded). Then, activate it while standing and it will be replaced by the furniture chair model.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

CREDITS
-------

Bethesda and Obsidian for creating such an awesome game and such adequate modding tools and leaving a folded lawn chair model in the game even though they didn't use it (at my current modeling ability it would have taken me weeks to make that).

Aridale at TESNexus for his Portable Stool mod for Oblivion that gave me the idea.

NVInteriors author chucksteel for helping me with my GECK issues.

My wife for indulging me the seemingly endless hours spent at the keyboard trying to learn to do this, and for proofreading.

And to my former employer for making those hours available.

INSTALLATION
------------

The archive is FOMod ready, so it should be easier than ever.

Nexus Mod Manager: Download K3KPortableFoldingLawnChairs_v2.5 (or, just use the "Download with Manager" button and save a couple steps). In NMM, click 'Add Mod from File' and browse to the downloaded archive. Once it's added, click to highlight and press the activate button. Close NMM. Play FNV. Find a chair, move it someplace with an awesome view, sit in it, and have a beer. Realize your life is now complete.

Fallout Mod Manager: Download K3KPortableFoldingLawnChairs_v2.5. In FOMM, click 'Package manager' and then 'Add FOMod' and browse to the downloaded archive. Once it's added, click to highlight and press the activate button. Play FNV. Wonder how a five dollar Superdupermart chair survived 200 years after a nuclear holocaust.

Manual Installation: Extract K3KFoldingLawnChairs.bsa and K3KFoldingLawnChairs.esp to your FNV 'data' directory. Make sure K3KFoldingLawnChairs.esp is checked in your load order using Wrye Bash or whatever. Bake at 350°F for 25-35 minutes. Play FNV. Wonder why you're still doing this manually when NMM makes it so much easier.

UPGRADING
---------

NMM or FOMM: If upgrading from any previous version, first deactivate and delete the old version. Then, install the new one as normal.

Manual: Delete K3KFoldingLawnChair.esp from your data folder. Extract K3KFoldingLawnChairs.esp to the same location. Then, delete K3KFoldingLawnChair.bsa and extract the new K3KFoldingLawnChairs.bsa into your data folder as well. Delete any patches you may previously used as they are no longer necessary.

UNINSTALLATION
--------------

In NMM or FOMM Package manager: Highlight my mod, click deactivate, and wonder about how I this might make me feel.

To manually uninstall, just delete K3KFoldingLawnChairs.bsa and K3KFoldingLawnChairs.esp.

COMPATIBILITY
-------------

I experienced the bug where the chair spawns in the ground, so I rewrote this again. For version 2.5 the mod replaces all instances of the furniture model of the vanilla lawn chairs with my version, but only after you've moved it once. Non-furniture, decorative static models are unaffected (most of these are either out of reach, overturned, or half buried). The vanilla folded model is also static decoration, and I've left them alone as well, except for one in Mick and Ralph's. Since I no longer have to use the modified mesh, there are no compatibility issues any more. The upside, no patches. Downside, slightly fewer chairs will be harvestable.

CHANGELOG
---------
Version 1.0: Initial Release

Version 1.01: Fixed placement of a folding chair in Mick and Ralph's. Thanks to chucksteel for helping me get the GECK to render the cell properly.

Version 1.10: Added patches for Honest Hearts and Old World Blues.

Version 1.20: Added FOMOD installer script for DLC patches and revised installation instructions accordingly.

Version 1.30: Added patches for NVInteriors - all flavors - along with Buried Mobile Home and Mountain Camp by Bounty550. Revised installation script accordingly.

Version 2.0: Revised scripting and no altered mesh for furniture chair means greater compatibility, no patches and no installation script required.

Version 2.5: New revised script, return of the altered mesh exchanged after the first time the chair is moved. This was done to prevent in-ground spawning.

FUTURE PLANS
------------

Fix any bugs that come up.

See about getting the cursor notice to show the correct actions when the chairs are targeted.

As yet unthought-of tweaks.

Any necessary revisions required when somebody who knows a lot more about how to do this properly tells me I've done it in a stupid, overly complicated, or hurtful way likely to corrupt savegames, overheat processors, and hasten the decline of Western civilization.

Find a new job.

Take wife out for sushi.
